Calum Richards

I played rugby from the age of 8, and then competitive Muay Thai Boxing through school. I then went on to study Sports performance and Excellence at Truro College while playing rugby at college level and Cornwall age groups.

After college I went on to study Maritime science and followed a career as a Navigational Officer on Offshore vessels in the Merchant Navy gaining a Master Mariner status.

I found CrossFit in 2019 after following conventional gym programs on and off for years and struggling with the motivation to get myself there or be productive whilst training.

I found a passion for CrossFit and grabbed hold of it with both hands. I could see the benefit in training in a more structured and coached environment and the social aspect of CrossFit was so much nicer, and the people were generally much more welcoming. After going through a serious back injury myself, training through it and rehabbing myself to the other side, I am passionate about helping others going through injuries to be able to train safely through it and give themselves the best chance of getting past it.

I want to be the best version of myself. I want to set a good example for my children and be able to move well and stay healthy.

I love being able to see the upward progress over time, getting stronger and getting fitter.

It makes me so happy to be able to help others on their CrossFit journey and see them learning new movements, hitting PRs on their lifts and generally being part of a great community of like-minded people.
